‘Ruby Slippers’ is a compact oakleaf hydrangea with distinctive oak-shaped foliage and large cone-shaped flower clusters. The flowers open white, gradually turn pink, and eventually develop a rich ruby-red coloration, giving the shrub its name. Its foliage also provides excellent fall interest, often developing shades of red, burgundy, and purple as temperatures cool. The exfoliating bark on mature stems adds winter interest, making this a particularly useful four-season shrub.
