‘Fuego’ is a compact, exceptionally colorful sneezeweed that is particularly valuable because it flowers when the garden is moving toward late summer and fall. The flowers are daisy-shaped and combine fiery orange, red and yellow, usually with a darker brown center, giving the plant a warm, almost sunset-like appearance. Unlike older sneezeweeds that can become tall and require staking, ‘Fuego’ was selected as a much shorter, well-branched plant that works toward the front or middle of a perennial border. It likes moisture and performs best in full sun, especially in soil that does not become excessively dry. It is native in origin, attracts bees and butterflies.
