‘Purple Dome’ is a compact New England-type aster that creates a dense mound of rich purple flowers in late summer and fall. Unlike taller asters that can require staking, this selection stays relatively short and naturally forms a rounded shape, making it especially useful toward the front or middle of a perennial bed. When in full bloom, the foliage can be almost completely hidden beneath the masses of purple daisy-like flowers. It is an excellent late-season plant for pollinators.
