Asclepias ‘Hello Yellow’ is a yellow-flowered form of butterfly weed, offering the same important wildlife value associated with milkweeds while providing a distinctly different color from the familiar orange-flowered forms. Its upright stems are topped with clusters of bright yellow flowers during summer, creating an excellent source of nectar for butterflies and other pollinators. Like other milkweeds, it also plays an important role as a host plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars. Once established, it prefers a sunny, well-drained location and is particularly useful in native gardens, pollinator borders, prairie-style plantings, and naturalized areas.
