Amsonia ‘Butterscotch’ / Bluestar
A particularly interesting bluestar because it provides two very different seasonal displays. In spring, narrow foliage is accompanied by pale blue flowers. As the season progresses, the foliage develops a striking golden-caramel/butterscotch color, with reddish stems.
Size: approximately 3 ft. tall × 3–4 ft. wide.
Bloom time: May–June.
Flower color: Pale blue
Summer foliage: Green, narrow and fine-textured
Fall foliage: Golden caramel/orange with reddish stems
Best feature: Exceptional fall foliage—the plant becomes almost a completely different color later in the year.
