Amsonia ‘Blue Ice’ is a compact, exceptionally attractive Blue Star selection that produces clusters of clear blue, star-shaped flowers in late spring. The flowers are held above attractive narrow foliage, giving the plant a soft, airy appearance while still forming a substantial perennial clump. As the season progresses, the foliage remains useful even after flowering and can develop attractive golden-yellow coloration in autumn. ‘Blue Ice’ is especially useful toward the front or middle of a perennial border and combines beautifully with coneflowers, ornamental grasses, salvias, and other sun-loving perennials.
