An especially unusual Japanese maple often called “Floating Cloud” maple. The leaves emerge predominantly white with pink tips and gradually develop green coloration heavily mottled and edged with white and pink. The effect can look almost like a cloud of pale foliage. Interestingly, this white transformation tends to happen once every three years!
Size: approximately 8–10 ft. tall × 6–10 ft. wide. Though they grow slowly and do not reach maximum size in our climate.
Bloom time: spring.
Flowers: Inconspicuous.
Foliage: White, pink and green variegation.
Fall: Can develop peach, orange and red tones.
Best feature: Extremely unusual white-and-pink variegated foliage.
