An upright Japanese maple with rich dark red to purple-red foliage. It holds its color well through summer and develops brilliant scarlet-red fall color. It is also relatively late to leaf out, helping reduce damage from late spring frosts.
Size: approximately 15–20 ft. tall × 15–20 ft. wide. (Though they grow very slowly and nowhere near as tall in our zone.
Bloom: April / spring; flowers are small and relatively inconspicuous.
Best feature: Deep red foliage with excellent summer color and scarlet fall color.
